What is Network Topology?

• A network topology describes the configuration of a network and the physical and logical arrangement of the nodes that form the network. There are two ways of defining network geometry: the physical topology and the logical (or signal) topology.

  •  Physical topology is the physical layout of the network, how the cables are arranged and how the computers are connected.

  •  Logical topology refers to the nature of the paths the signals follow from node to node.
